Merry: I don't blame Farah for sticking with Salazar
Olympic medallist Katherine Merry said she doesn't blame Mo Farah for sticking with coach, Alberto Salazar, despite the doping allegations he's faced
Olympic medallist Katherine Merry said she doesn't blame Mo Farah for sticking with coach, Alberto Salazar but wouldn't be surprised if he doesn’t run well following the allegations.
The British double Olympic champion has today said that he will continue to work with Salazar and believes in the evidence he has provided.
Merry, who was part of Team GB in 2000 for the Sydney Olympic Games, made comparisons to her experience when in 1999, Linford Christie’s career came to an end after he tested positive for nandrolene. She recalled the increased interest in her and Darren Campbell’s doping samples and the pressure that put on them to prove that they were running clean but told George Riley in Friday's 5 live sport that she stood by Linford because she believed in him.
The recent scrutiny that Farah has come under would have an effect on him according to Merry and she believes the disruption the situation has caused may mean his season doesn’t go the way he wants it to.
