In the first Ashes Social of the series the main talking point of the evening was Joe Root’s stunning performance on day one of the 2015 Ashes series in Cardiff. The Yorkshire batsman achieved his century and caused the Australian bowlers plenty of problems.

Talking to Mark Chapman, Melinda Farrell praised Root as being a danger man saying he looks better than Australian Steve Smith.

She also likened Root to former Australian cricketer, David Boon and suggested that if Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean could play cricket, the result would be Joe Root.
