Shane Sutton: Froome abuse is 'appalling'
British Cycling's technical director Shane Sutton gives his view on the 'appalling' abuse levelled at Chris Froome.
Froome said he had urine thrown at him during stage 14 of the Tour de France following accusations that he is doping. Sutton laments that 鈥渟peculation is starting to overshadow the performance鈥.
"Chris and the team are doing fantastic...this is a few mindless individuals trying to upset things, but they are strong characters and they'll just carry on in the same way they have done up until now", he said.
When asked what Froome can do to convince the doubters, Shane Sutton replied, "I don't think Chris can do anymore [...] he can only turn up to the tests and perform the way he's been performing. Chris and people around him are very upset by this, he's a very straight guy and he's paying for things that have happened in the past."
