There's one year to go until the Rio Olympics, but will the venues be ready in time?

5 live's Júlia Dias Carneiro has had an exclusive guided tour through the venues with the mayor Eduardo Paes.

The mayor said the work on the venues is "much more" than half finished.

He added that Rio "doesn't need" to launch its stadia a year in advance like London did, saying "it's a waste of money".

London launched its Aquatics Centre and hosted Test events to mark the one year countdown to the 2012 Olympics.
