Lord Janner, Christmas Staff & Sing Christmas

Start your day with the latest news and updates, with Jim and Jo at breakfast.

The death, over the weekend, of Lord Janner - the former Leicester Labour MP for nearly three decades - has stirred more concern about his activities in life, than tributes. For many, he was a hard working back-bench MP, lawyer, author and champion of rights and compensation for Holocaust victims. However his public career has been overshadowed in recent years by allegations of serious sexual abuse and legal arguments over whether he should be prosecuted.
Also, Leicester's shop and bar staff have been describing how they face violence and threats as they handle ever more stressed Christmas shoppers and drinkers this week. In the final shopping days before the 25th, 大象传媒 Radio Leicester has been told retailers get abused, threatened and even attacked as they do their job. But some workers say that the difficulties they face can vary widely. So what rights do these workers have, and when are employers pushing things too far?
And, offices, churches, schools and pubs across Leicestershire are today coming together - with us - to celebrate the festive season and "Sing Christmas"! Almost 100 places have signed up this year, to take part in the carols which we will be broadcasting live from 7 tonight. 大象传媒 Radio Leicester's Helen McCarthy is at a village pub in the county which is taking part!
