Potholes, Alcohol & BAFTA Nominations

Start your day with the latest news and updates, with Jim and Jo at breakfast.

So far it's been a mild, wet, and miserable winter - but that's good news for Leicestershire County council, which says it's had significantly fewer potholes to repair. Last month the highways team filled 272 of the holes, compared to 362 the year before - leaving them thousands of pounds better off.
Also, are you drinking too much? The government is introducing new guidance today on how much is an acceptable amount for adults to drink.
The first major review of NHS advice in twenty years will challenge long-held assumptions about how much and how often we can drink without endangering our health. The recommendations say - like women - men should consume no more than 14 units of alcohol per week, down from the previous 21 units - broadly equivalent to about seven standard glasses of wine or six pints of beer. They're also advising you to have several days each week when you don't drink at all. So how much attention do you pay to the government's guidelines?
And, awards season is underway -- and this morning it's the turn of the British Academy to announce the nominations for the BAFTA Film Awards. It's been a fantastic year for film, but will block busters like the latest "Star Wars" or "Spectre" get any nods, or will it be the much talked about "Spotlight" and "The Revenant" that will get recognised? So which are your favourites? 大象传媒 Radio Leicester's Jack Rafferty has been asking movie fans at Leicester's Phoenix Cinema.

Also in the show, as Leicester City go to Spurs in the FA Cup this weekend, we look back at some dramatic meetings from the past and why the arrival of a certain supermarket in a Leicestershire village could mean more than just fine food for people living nearby.
