Jakarta, Freight Transport & Fly Tipping

Start your day with the latest news and updates, with Jim and Jo at breakfast.

At least seven people were killed, including four attackers and a police officer, in terrorist attacks in Jakarta on Thursday morning.

There's no indication yet who might be behind the assault, but the Indonesian president has described the attacks as "acts of terror". It happened in a busy part of the city, close to shops, offices and foreign embassies. Police believe more than a dozen attackers were involved. Some are still at large and have been exchanging fire with security forces. Among the locations targeted were a police post, a shopping centre and a Starbucks caf茅. Indonesia is the world's most populous Muslim country. Police there have been saying for sometime that an attack on Indonesian soil may be just "a matter of time".

Campaigners say they're considering taking legal action against the government's decision to green-light a transport-and-warehouse hub outside Castle Donington

The Transport Secretary has given the firm Roxhill Developments consent to build on the site, which we're told has the potential to create up to 7-thousand new jobs. The East Midlands Gateway Rail Freight Interchange - as it's known - will include ten warehouses and a freight terminal which will handle up to 16 trains a day. It will sit on farmland north of East Midlands Airport and west of junction 24 of the M1.
And our reporter, Helen McCarthy, went to find out more...

The St Peters and Stougton Street estate in Highfields has seen a sharp rise in fly tipping and rubbish. Now the Chairman of the tenants association says enough is enough. He's in the process of sending out letters to all the thousand plus people who live there - to tell them anyone caught dumping waste or rubbish will have to pay a fine of 拢80, and face legal action. The letters are available in both English and Gujerati.
