Alan Kurdi's aunt on the power of her nephew's image
The aunt of drowned refugee Alan Kurdi says she cannot look at the image of him washed up on a Turkish beach - one of the most shared pictures of 2015 - but understands its power.
Tima Kurdi told 5 live's Emma Barnett the photo of the toddler, which was tweeted 53,000 times an hour at its peak and became a symbol for the refugee crisis, was important to showcase the plight of refugees and migrants, despite the immense personal sadness for her and her family.
"It brings the desperation of the refugee crisis to the people of the world ...but on the other hand i cannot look [at it]," she said.
