Rooney: England defeat to Iceland was ‘embarrassing’
England captain Wayne Rooney says the Euro 2016 elimination to Iceland was ‘embarrassing’ and has called the resignation of manager Roy Hodgson ‘sad’.
Hodgson quit immediately after the 2-1 defeat in Nice, a result Rooney admits was disappointing.
“We’re sad and gutted,” he said.
“It is embarrassing to go out but that’s football,” the Manchester United forward added.
