Young vets are steering clear from a career in the countryside, according to the British Veterinary Association. As we've been hearing this morning the BVA is warning of a shortage of rural vets as graduates are put off working in isolated villages, the longer hours and being on call more regularly.

Around four and a half thousand people have signed a petition urging the Oxford English Dictionary to alter its definition of "Essex Girl". Campaigners say phrases such as "unintelligent", "materialistic" and "sexually promiscuous" create negative stereotypes of women.
