It might be a hundred miles away, but expansion plans to either Gatwick or Heathrow airports due to be announced today could have massive repercussions here in the East Midlands. After decades of waiting, a committee of Mp's will finally choose a "preferred option" which could mean a new runway at either Heathrow or Gatwick, or an extension of one of the existing runways at Heathrow.
You might be surprised to hear that Harborough District Council is dumping a pile of rubbish in the middle of Welland Park today. It's to highlight he number of incidents of flytipping which have more than doubled in the last three years in the area.
Gunmen have attacked a police training college near the Pakistani city of Quetta, killing at least sixty cadets and guards. Three men wearing suicide vests stormed the building late last night and opened fire. All three were later killed during the operation to retake the training facility. It's not yet clear who is behind the attack.
