Pete Burns: The 'ace face' of Liverpool
Joe Musker, the original drummer with the band Dead or Alive has described Peter Burns as the 'ace face' of Liverpool after his death, aged 57.
"As far as I was concerned he was the 鈥榓ce face鈥 in Liverpool. He was just so flamboyant, he was right out there with his dress, he always looked absolutely amazing, he was a pleasure to work with," he told 5 live.
Musker explained how Burns鈥 dress sense was the inspiration for the band鈥檚 name, 鈥渉e had this hat on like Davy Crockett and a fringed jacket and I said, 鈥榳hy don鈥檛 you call the band Dead or Alive?鈥欌.
Burns, who died after suffering a cardiac arrest, became famous in the 1980s for his androgynous style and progressive approach to gender issues. His band's single You Spin Me Round (like a Record) spent two weeks at number one in 1985.
