Sutton: Homophobic football fans are 'moronic'
Former footballer Chris Sutton believes homophobic football fans that said they would not watch their team if they fielded a gay player are "moronic".
An online poll of more than 4,000 people across England, Wales and Scotland conducted by research company ComRes found that eight percent of people said they would not watch their team if they fielded a gay player.
"These are the people we should be dealing with and this eight percent, they shouldn't be allowed in football grounds as far as I'm concerned,鈥 said the form Celtic striker.
"It's absolutely bonkers that in our society that we can let people like this dictate whether somebody should come out or not."
More than four fifths of football fans said they would be comfortable with their club signing a gay player.
