拢250,000 gold coin found in child鈥檚 toy box
A man from Essex could soon be 拢250,000 richer, thanks to a small gold coin that was lying in his son's toy box. The Queen Anne 'Vigo' five guinea gold coin is 313 years old and is one of only 20 to have ever been made. The man had no idea of its value until he showed it to Boningtons鈥 auctioneers coin specialist, Gregory Tong.
Gregory immediately recognised it and told 5 live Drive, 鈥渋n the coin world it is such a known coin.鈥
鈥淚t is the rarest English milled coin. It鈥檚 a beautiful thing and it鈥檚 a one in a million shot.鈥
The coin will go under the hammer at the Essex auctioneer鈥檚 Epping saleroom in November 2016.
