Marieke Vervoort: Paralympian tries indoor skydiving
Belgian Paralympian Marieke Vervoort discusses discovering indoor skydiving after quitting her top sports.
At 21, the wheelchair racer was diagnosed with a degenerative, incurable spinal condition. The disease left her in so much pain that she woke up her neighbours by screaming at night.
Euthanasia has been legal in Belgium since 2002. At the age of 37, Marieke decided to plan her own death. Or as she put it to Eleanor Oldroyd when they met in 2016: "to live life on my own terms."
Eleanor visited Marieke in Brussels for a second time to find out what she has been up, how her health and outlook has changed.
