An Nowodhow - Read along with the news in Kernewek
PRESENTER: James Churchfield
On 21 January pressure on health services led to the declaration of a 鈥榗ritical incident鈥 鈥 a step that allows health services to create temporary additional capacity, for example in 鈥榲irtual wards鈥 or - ranndraow gowir - in the community.
You鈥檒l hear the word for 鈥榟ealth鈥 in this story 鈥 鈥测别驳丑别蝉鈥. This is the same word in the phrase for 鈥榗heers! 鈥 yeghes da!鈥 鈥 literally 鈥榞ood鈥 health.
This week鈥檚 Cornish is read by Duncan McIntosh.

Thank you and good morning to you all.
Health bosses have said the critical incident in Cornwall - which was declared on 21 January - has ended but that services remained under pressure.
A critical incident is the highest alert level used by the NHS. It allows bosses to create capacity urgently.
After the declaration, people were asked not to attend the Royal Cornwall Hospital's emergency department where possible. NHS Cornwall staff directed patients to 鈥榲irtual wards鈥 and to care provided in the community.
Susan Bracefield, chief nursing officer for the NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care Board thanked people for their patience, but said health services remained busy and asked people still choose where is best from community services available.鈥澛 "The system critical incident has now been stood down, but health services remain busy and I would ask people to still choose where is best from the network of community services available,".
PRESENTER James:
In the next story we hear how Cornwall Council is seeking to find out how best to support Cornwall鈥檚 Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities.
According to research by the Traveller Movement, these communites report high levels of hate speech and hate crime, and Cornwall Council is launching a consultation on topics such as housing, access to services and equality of opportunity.
At the start you鈥檒l hear the word kemenethow 鈥 鈥榗ommunities鈥 followed by Jypsonek, Romek and Tremenek. But a little later you hear the word again but this time it鈥檚 补鈥檊补 hemenethow 鈥 鈥榯heir communities鈥, because we get a mutation after 鈥槻光檊补鈥.

Cornwall Council has launched a 12-week consultation on how to support Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities in Cornwall.
Residents, businesses and organisations have been asked for their views on a聽draft strategy about the groups.
The strategy will cover a five-year period and focus on topics like homes and equality of opportunity.
Councillor Carol Mould said that the council has a legal duty to ensure that Cornwall's Gypsy, Roma and Traveller residents have equal access to services, are treated in the same way as the wider population, and feel safe and part of their local community.
A national survey carried out by Traveller Movement found that 91% of respondents had experienced discrimination and 77% had experienced hate speech or a hate crime.
Cornwall Housing currently manages three residential Gypsy and Traveller sites at Boscarn Parc, Wheal Jewel and Foredown Parc.
Responses from the survey will be used to shape the final strategy which is due to be considered by the Council's Cabinet in July.
PRESENTER James:
Finally today, the huge ongoing A30 upgrade project has given an opportunity to archaeologists to uncover artefacts and features from Cornwall鈥檚 history.
We鈥檒l hear the words for archaeologists (hendhyskonydhyon) and then archaeological 鈥 (hendhyskoniethel). These come from hen plus dyski 鈥 meaning 鈥榦ld/ancient鈥 and 鈥榣earning鈥. Also if you know the word for road 鈥 鈥蹿辞谤诲丑鈥, see if you can pick out 鈥楻oman road鈥.
Not all the discoveries are ancient however 鈥 the last paragraph mentions the remains of a US Army base near the Chybucca junction, used in preparation for the D-Day landings in 1944.

The ongoing work on the A30 upgrade between Chiverton and Carland has offered archaeologists a chance to uncover some of Cornwall鈥檚 history.
Archaeological investigations have been completed in 16 separate areas as part of the upgrade, with findings from 10,000 years of Cornish history.
A Roman road and a Bronze Age burial mound were among the discoveries.
Flint tools and waste were also found, marking an area where people had gathered for thousands of years to prepare tools from flint pebbles carried up from the north coast.
Next to the Chybucca junction, the remains of 50 or so huts and a blacksmith's forge were uncovered. These were the remains of a United States Army base in use in the year up until D-Day in June 1944.
