Fergus McCreadie is a pianist from the tiny town of Dollar, Clackmannanshire. Growing up with no particular interest in the piano, it wasn’t until his early teens that he discovered jazz music - but he’s been sold on it ever since.
Playing across Scotland with the Fife Youth Jazz Orchestra and the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Scotland, he soon entered the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow on the jazz course directed by Tommy Smith. Now, as a graduate of that course, he leads his own piano trio, which plays a distinct blend of jazz and Scottish traditional music. They released their first album this year, alongside playing at the Edinburgh and Oslo Jazz Festivals and a live concert for Jazz FM. The album Turas received rave reviews, including a 5* review in the Scotsman.
Fergus also plays with the minimalist-jazz-prog outfit Graham Costello’s STRATA, electronic artist Werkha, and with fellow Glasgow musicians Matthew Carmichael and Mark Hendry.
