Former plasterer Sam鈥檚 always struggled to make something of himself and make his dad Eugene (George Harris) proud.
After years of night school, he's ecstatic when he gets a coveted job as an English teacher but tragedy strikes when he suffers a brain injury on a night out.
Awaking from a coma, he realises he has lost his ability to read and write: the very tools of his trade. Desperate to get his literacy back before the job starts, Sam becomes obsessed - to the detriment of his relationship with his girlfriend Naomi.
