Pablo Vasquez
Pablo Vasquez has been working the nightshift in accident and emergency for over 6 years.
He works in the Mexican border town of Ciudad Juarez. It was once labelled Mexico's deadliest city, at the centre of a war on drug cartels. While murder rates have slowed, death is still a daily fact of life for nurses there, who have also found themselves to be targets.
If they see us in our uniforms it make us targets of violence and kidnappingPablo
Like most people in Juarez, he lives in the colonnias – vast urban sprawls controlled by the gangs.
He lives with his wife Elvira, to whom he has been married for 21 years, as well as his daughters, Arleth and Miriam, and his sons Alexis and Pablo Jr.
