Track: Galim im Roa Artist: Nabir Kawani Music: Tunisian Chosen by: Mohamed Ben Hassen (Bristol)
ÌýÌýListen to Mohamed Ben Hassen and hear the track Galim im Roa by Nabir Kawani.
I am from Tunisia. I came to this country back in 1983-84 - my first job in this country was Assistant Manager of Bernie Inn. Then after that I was working as a chef in different restaurants and then I worked as a taxi driver for 3 years and then after that I decided to be my own boss. I find that days is a lot easier than night shifts, because on days people are going to hospitals or travelling or people going to work, whereas in the evening usually people are going to pubs and nightclubs. After having a few drinks the effect of alcohol is, some people really are difficult. People get hold of a lot of things like knives and guns and those sort of things, and the taxi driver is an easy target.
When I’m really down and tired I listen to music from home. I listen to different types obviously and different songs about feelings and people who are away from home. This sort of thing is nice to listen to really. This one means ‘I heard he is coming back’.
