Many Happy Returns, Hermit ...!! If it was me, I'd bake meself a cake ...!! Central Heating is good ... but it's expensive to install and run ... and I kinda think it makes you 'soft' ... sometimes it feels very 'decadent' to me ... I don;t know if a person can be 'damaged' by cold, I don;t think so ... But I prefer the honesty of the cold, if that doesn;t sound too trite ... and when I'm cold, I like to think of all the myriad of generations pre-CH, just getting on with it ...!! Having said that, I have CH - it was here when I moved in ... But I use it sparingly ... and enjoy the feeling of indulgence I get when I put it on for an hour or so ... :-) Treat yourself to something special today - whatever it is ...!!!

I too will soon be 47...and very welcome it will be ! Since I turned 50 a couple years back, I decided from then on to deduct each subsequent year rather than add one on. Of course you don't fool many folk but it works well for me !
