I’m welling up watching this. Think of the pressure Eileen Gu has been under – the poster girl for these games.

    And she has delivered.

Eileen Gu is enjoying this final run. It's a chance to have a bit of fun for her.

She was in tears at the top before dropping into the pipe.

Three events, three medals. A job well done.

Some would say she won it before she woke up this morning.

It's a second gold of the Games for 18-year-old Eileen Gu of China, who also won the big air event and finished second in slopestyle.

Cassie Sharpe, winner four years ago, takes silver with another Canadian, Rachael Karker, securing bronze.

Karker has a hug with fellow Canadian Cassie Sharpe at the end. It's silver for Sharpe and bronze for Karker, whose third run only scored 38.

    That means...

Only Canada's Rachael Karker can deny Eileen Gu the gold. Karker is third as it stands...

She’s not happy with that run. She is really upset.

Really gutted for Zoe Atkin that she couldn’t put down the run she wanted.

But it is definitely not going to be her last dance at the Olympics.

Zoe Atkin looks a little heartbroken but has to take some pride in putting down a run in the Olympic final.

She will learn a lot from this experience and be back stronger than ever in four years time.

  10. Atkin finishes ninthpublished at 02:56 Greenwich Mean Time 18 February 2022

    Women's freeski halfpipe final

It's not to be for Zoe Atkin. After two falls, she opts for caution to get a run down, but halfway through you can see she's completely unhappy and it's a tame end to her run.

At the end, she's in tears, hugely disappointed, but she is only 19 years old so plenty of time to appear at another Games.

Atkin gets a score of 73.25 on the board, which will mean she finishes in ninth position.

Next up, Britain's Zoe Atkin. This is her last chance after two falls.

We have that stark illustration of the risks all of the athletes run riding halfpipe after Zhang Kexin’s crash.

    It’s such a fine line.

We take for granted what they are doing out there.

Zhang Kexin is up on her feet, which is a great sign. She took a big hit there.

She's holding her head as she skis down the rest of the pipe to a very warm applause.

What Cassie Sharpe lost in amplitude, she gained in execution.

It’s not enough but she has put a very strong claim on the silver medal.

It's a very, very heavy crash for Zhang Kexin of China, desperately trying to nail a 1080.

The medics instantly rush out to her and hopefully she's OK.

  16. Sharpe improvespublished at 02:46 Greenwich Mean Time 18 February 2022

    Women's freeski halfpipe final

Cassie Sharpe was second after two runs and throws in a performance that includes a couple of 900s and a couple of 1080s. It's a slight improvement with a score of 90.75, but that might be good enough for silver after gold four years ago.

One last chance for Zoe Atkin. She got a score of 86.75 in qualifying, and Rachael Karker is currently in bronze sitting on 87.75.

American Carly Margulies, whose equipment failed her on both her opening two runs, finally gets a proper score on the board and she's 10th at best.

But, considering she's had to have six knee surgeries already in her career, it's an incredible effort and a brilliant show of guts, resilience and desire.

There’s an acre of paddock between Eileen Gu and the rest of the field.

She has got such a head start on the third run.

No one is coping with the wind in the way she is.

She is more than five points clear of Cassie Sharpe in the silver medal position. She is a full 10 points ahead of Rachael Karker in the bronze medal position.
