In photo 1 of London Road, is the building on the left Mayfield School? If it is, one of my ancestors was the headmistress.

Sarah Perrin
My family lived in Marlborough all that time ago and i wondered if Sarah Pearson may like to get in touch to see if her family may be linked to mine. my email address is sarahperrin855@gmail.com

Great photos - probably not many around. Who takes photos of supposed "unimportant" places? You don't realise at the time that you're taking photographs that everyone else is taking! I'm doing my family tree, and my great grandad William was born and raised around marlborough.

Oh Wow!! Hadn't even clicked on Marlborough - what a beautiful set of photos - love the 1887 one - just a year after the first Savernake Cottage Hospital opened.

My mum and dad owned the crown hotel in the 60's, they told me it was haunted by a lady, mum and dad never saw her but people who stayed in the room on the top floor at the end of the corridor saw her. apparently she used to take the lamp apart every day and leave all of the fittings in a long line on one of the beds. Did anyone drink there at this time who can help me find out more? Mum and dad are interested to find out if she is still there, does anyone have any stories?

My great grandfather, JJ Hunt ran Hunt's Studios at 112 High St during the 1930's. He produced some very detailed pictures of the High St. one of which is featured in this collection

Great photos. I am doing my family research on the Perrin family who lived in Marlborough around the C18th.These photos helped me to imagine what it may have looked like then.

My mother was born at the Crown Hotel in 1920 in Lugershall, my grandfather was the manager.I have been trying to find a photo of this hotel, and came across your site.Is the Crown in Malborough, the same one?regards Margaret in Australia

These photos are great for our school project on local traffic.

Historic photos of High St,Marlborough would be a better title. Surely there are other places in Marlborough. Disappointing.
