"The potion you drank has worked’’, continued Janssen. “You have no recollection of agreeing to undertake this operation. We wanted to see if a pacifist like yourself could overcome his deepest revulsion and actually kill in circumstances where he felt he had no choice. You are proof of that." Dr Janssen glanced at the revolver still in Patrick’s grasp.
"But what about the blood and the briefcase and the word ‘Don't’? What are they all about? And my memory, will that come back ?"
"The blood is merely theatricals and your memory will return soon" replied the doctor. A low groan emerged from the corridor. Patrick looked up. "David give him the key to the briefcase and let him determine the meaning of ‘don't’. If he dares."
