Veneration of Mary
The rosary is most closely associated with Mary, the Mother of Christ. Several times in history it has been reported that she has appeared as an apparition, praying and instructing people to pray the rosary.
The concept of the rosary is said to have been given to St Dominic in one such A miraculous appearance of someone, eg the Virgin Mary. in 1214. Bernadette reported seeing Our Lady with a rosary at Lourdes and prayed with her.
Each mystery of the rosary consists of reciting:
- ten A prayer to the Virgin Mary, based on the words said by the Angel Gabriel.
- one Our Father
- the Fatima prayer
- the Glory Be
The Glory Be prayer is at the centre of the rosary it is through this prayer that the faithful ask Mary to To intervene or make a request on behalf of someone else. on their behalf.
