Catholic retreats and monastic communities

There are a number of Catholic across the UK, and many of them have their basis in monastic orders and communities.

Each community will offer something different and unique, eg

  • school retreats
  • adult only retreats
  • family retreats
  • a range of retreats across the liturgical year to suit everyone

Kintbury

St Cassian's Centre in Kintbury in the south of England is a retreat centre that is funded by the brothers. The centre is mainly a youth retreat centre which caters for school groups, but throughout the year they offer adult and family retreats as well.

The aims of the retreats differ, but as with all retreats, they offer time away from the business of the world and time to reflect and focus on God and faith.

As a Lasallian community, the centre focuses on five main principles which underpin all that they do. They are:

  • faith in the presence of God
  • respect for all persons
  • inclusive community
  • quality education
  • concern for the poor and social justice

St Beuno鈥檚

St Beuno鈥檚 is a Jesuit Spirituality Centre in north Wales. It is run by the Jesuits, a religious order within the Catholic Church. The centre was originally a college used to train Jesuits and for the study of . Since the 1970s it has been dedicated to retreats and spirituality. The centre has a range of retreats for individuals, as well as groups.
