The different levels of anger

Description

A group of children recognise that they have different levels of anger and that their ability to control it depends on how angry they are. The boys and girls also identify the physical changes that they notice taking place in their bodies when they get angry.

Classroom Ideas

A classroom anger-ometer could be set up or simply drawn on the board and used to explore the different levels of anger explored in this clip, from annoyed to cross, to explosive. An arrow could be moved up or down the anger-ometer and students could be asked to make a facial expression or sound for this level of anger.

Pictures could be taken of these facial expressions and used to annotate the anger-ometer. Students could also sort scenarios into which level of anger it would make them feel. Ask students to come up with a strategy to help you calm down at each level on the anger scale. Posters could be made to advertise these strategies to help others.
