Description
Getting into a good university is highly competitive, and entry depends not only on excellent grades but also good moral conduct. Graduating from a top university, such as Peking University, is a passport to success. However, while China鈥檚 education system provides a sturdy foundation, many students feel that Western education is stronger at building independence. In this clip, students say where they are from, introduce each other and talk about what they are studying.
Classroom Ideas
Place students in pairs. Students will watch the clip first and practise the question-and-answers game in Chinese following the same language structure as in the clip. A possible question could be, 鈥渨here do you come from鈥, 鈥渘i chong na lai鈥, with answers such as 鈥淚 come from Manchester鈥, 鈥渨o chong Manchester lai鈥 or 鈥淚 am a Londoner鈥, 鈥渨o shi London ren鈥.
