Lady Marmalade of Inverpolly...

Bryan Burnett | 17:35 UK time, Tuesday, 7 October 2008

marmaladejpg.jpgTop show last night. It seems we are all a little bit obsessed by food. Thanks to everyone who contributed, especially those who shared details of their tea. Special thanks to the Inverpolly crew who sent in a list of 'toast' songs and a lovely jar of home made marmalade. Now that's what I'd like to encourage. Sadly it didn't arrive until today but it was very much appreciated by the team. Now all I need to do is convince Ken to send us some of his home made apple pie from last night. I knew 'food' as a theme would bring in some good puns and you didn't let me down. I liked:

Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep ( where's your mama's scone?)
Take My Broth Away - Berlin
Eatin trifles - The Jam
The Glasgow Wrap - Johnnie Beattie
And the texter who asked for anything by Coldplay as they are mince!

Tonight it's songs with no intros. We're starting with Road To Nowhere by Talking Heads and you can decide what come next by texting in or e-mailing getiton@bbc.co.uk

Can't really do puns for a no-intros theme, so I'll just have to suggest a few favourites instead. How about:

Don't Stop Me Now - Queen
    Mary's Prayer - Danny Wilson
    Caledonia - Frankie Miller
    Shout Shout - The Proclaimers

a must for wednesdays emotion night must be any song from warren zevons "the wind". the documentary following a dying zevon making the album was heart wrenching.
    how about
"numb as a statue" or "rub me raw"

He was right -Life'll Kill Ya.

    Monday
Couldn't get many for yes only Georgie Fame 'Yeh, yeh' and possibly Beatles 'I'll be true to you (yes I will ). Plenty No's for instance a couple of Chuck's 'No particular place to go' or 'No money down'

    Tuesday
Again some CB is appropriate, for instance 'Promised Land', 'Back in the USA' or even the Beatles counterblast 'Back in the USSR'

    Wednesday
The one that always gets me is the 'goose' sound on Johnnie and the Hurricanes 'Rockin' Goose'. The effrontery is huge - how did they get away with that?

    Thursday
Joni Mitchell - 'The Circle Game'
    poignant or whit?

I think Yes I Will was by the Manchester popsters, The Hollies, Bob.

Back In The USA is a great track and could be played on Monday with all its "Uh Huh Huh - Oh Yeahs"
