DC - #18 - Bridge Over Troubled Waters is a beautiful song, and the first song that ever made me genuinely weep at the wonder that such artistry is possible in the world. Thank you! I hope it is played.

Norrie - I thought someone might do a list for the GIO regular bloggers and i'm grateful it was you 'cos i thought it'd be EC or AFR with sarky (but no doubt funny) suggestions. Thanks for my gift - good choice.

For my gift I'd suggest The Ditty Bops song "Wake Up"...for the daughter...and not just because that's what I yell about 50 times every school morning. It starts by focussing on the cliched and restricting advice It's so easy to give to one's children but I'd prefer her to follow the advice at the end...what you could do..."Breath deep, speak out, make up your mind, be brave, follow your dreams, listen to your heart, close your eyes, make a wish". I know it's corny but hey! It's Christmas and nearing the end of another year - bet we all get a bit philosophical at this time.

#27 and 28. I LOVE him singing that song - he was a huge Hawaiian man with a beautifully sweet voice. It was also on the soundtrack to 50 first dates. His surname is spelled Kamakawiwo'ole (but don't ask me how to pronounce it!!!). Not being pedantic...just best to get it right so the producer can find it easily.

Like others I will start by thanking Norrie for his great list - I hope BB plays more than one song and I am happy to endorse it all.

My suggestions for tonight are: Love and happiness for you by Kimmie Rhodes, for all family and fiends and in particular my better half, Jane, my sons Mark and Matthew and my brother, Jim. The lyrics make it perfect for the theme.

If that doesn't make the cut, three options which Jane would appreciate are:

I started listening to the show in the summer, and have really enjoyed listening to and reading everyone's suggestions, and being introduced to new tracks and artists, as well as making my own contributions.

I have really tried to think of something else, but the only track I have come up with so far for Bryan and the ´óÏó´«Ã½ team, Barbara, Mandi, Richard and Sam, and all the bloggers and contributors to the show is "Thank You For The Music" by Abba. I know that won't be a popular choice, so if anyone has a suggestion for a track that says the same but is more suitable for GIO, stick it on the blog.

Greg Lake "I Believe in Father Christmas". It's about the festive season, without being an overdrive party thing, it's got a caustic note, but the original verses and the bits borrowed from Prokofief or whoever give it a Christmassy gloss which entices in the unwary.

#87 - Rich -No problem! That track was always going to be one of my suggestions for the theme tonight. That song and Taylor's version of You've Got A Friend both have the capacity to make me cry on the spot - such is the truthfulness of the lyrics and the simple, crystal clear delivery of a heartfelt message.

I think Christmas songs should be done by people with a smooth tone to their voice. That's why stuff by Noddy Holder and Bruce Springsteen just doesn't work. How about the following:-

Wednesday: I've been trying to have "Sunset hymn" by Emily Smith played on GIO but to no avail...perhaps Bryan and Co will play her song "Winter Song" which is another very descriptive song and really puts a picture in your mind of the sights and sounds of Winter (including Christmas). Emily, the Scots Singer of the Year 2008, has a beautiful voice.
