You can't.

one of the priviliges of living outwith the range of human contact is just how natural it becomes to appreciate the variety and behaviour of birds........from a brood of corncrake in the garden to watching a hunt between a peregrine falcon and a rock pigeon ( it was a draw the pigeon hit full force the side of the church the peregrine went and sat on a rock and screeched for ages)...merlin, harriers, white tailed eagles, short eared owls, any variety of larks , wrens, thrush, pipits, lapwing, snipe, buzzards,waders by the dozen, tern (vicious wee things) and the sight of gannets plunging vertically into the sea is quite spectacular,whooper, mute swans ducks and geese.........
thousands of geese............greylag, canada.
on a warm summer day when you think all is quiet...stand, pause and listen....the background cacaphony of bird life is earsplitting.
one great song to sum it all up.......

.....and some days, when the noise becomes too much, I unlock the gun safe and pull out my father's old Martini-Enfield. Soon it's quiet again.

I think we should once more hear a song which has been the guiding spiritual light in my life. In my darkest moments, I play this and feel a cathartic rebirth, and am once more able to face the day with optimistic gusto.
