SHE SAID SHE WANTED A SNOG BUT I KNEW SHE WANTED A HOUSE AND A CAR AND A WHOLE HOST OF OTHER THINGS

Chris Evans | 08:38 UK time, Saturday, 26 August 2006

So there we were at the bar as the clock struck twelve. Members of the EUROPEAN team were scattered about the place like pillars holding up the temple. All good souls every one of them. I was in the corner, the sails half way down yet not sure if this was truly the place to drop anchor, in the end I got caught and asked someone to marry me. It's always thus, here's what she has to say the next day...

Over breakfast, she looks swell, I won't tell you how but here are her words...

"So, Chris invited me to his room and , erm.. and I did in fact agree to go but then once the lift doors opened, I had a revelation, I'm not quite sure what that revelation was but i decided to cuddle myself instead of him. And i think we'll leave it at that."

Now it's time for the "nearest the pin challenge", so we have to pop off, but we will be back. The guest bloggershave agreed and will be on line soon.

SWING (S)LOW SWEET CHARIOT...

Chris Evans | 09:51 UK time, Friday, 25 August 2006

Morning, morning, well here I am sat in the WYE - FI lobby of the BIG OLD HOTEL COMPLEX. The buzz ever growing.

Friday is the day everyone starts arriving for the weekend's festivities, it promises to be a hoot, if you're around, do come down, it's a great atmosphere and the third most attended golf event in Europe, how's that !

Those of us who have played in this event before know how exciting it's going to be, those who have not, are walking around with a mixed look of fear, anticipation, nervousness and dread.

The questions most frequently asked by the rookies:-

"How good is everyone ? Do they show your bad shots ? Is it all live ? Does it really matter if we win ?

Answers... not very, but some are...yes they do... yes it is...too damn right.

WELL HELLO THERE EVERYONE !

Chris Evans | 08:21 UK time, Thursday, 24 August 2006

Couldn't blog before today, I was in the technological wilderness. Good to see you've been having a bash anyway!

I've just ripped open a sachet of WELSH BREW tea after one of those mini hotel kettles had finished boiling, it took a while but it was well worth the wait. I love those little kettles, maybe I'll get one for home, or maybe that would ruin the effect they have on me when I see them when I'm away. They are a sure fire sign that one is on holiday, either that or a travelling salesman.

SO SHE SAID TO HIM, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE ?" AND HE SAID, "I'M LOOKING FOR A WIFE," AND SHE SAID, "WILL I DO ?".... SOMETIMES IT'S A S SIMPLE AS THAT.

Chris Evans | 08:54 UK time, Friday, 18 August 2006

Well good mighty me, how are you all today ?

Last night I went out for dinner with the fox and her hubby, a fine man by the name of Frederico. We had a wonderful time.

We went to my favorite restau' (as the French say), the faire is of a good standard but the most important thing is, that they look after you, really really well.

Nigel, our food and drinks man from the show, joined us, along with two other friends of mine.

It was one of those nights where the company was of such quality and so easy that you didn't have to worry about anyone having a good time. We were all foodies and we all knew how to hold up our own end of a decent conversation. Four of the six of us had never even met before but it was always going to be swell.

It turned out to be so swell that after the meal was over, desserts grappa and all, we went to a pub for a "last orders" pint of guiness. Bliss.

SO THE POSTS HAVE REACHED OVER A THOUSAND !

Came home last night, another lovely night, another awesome walk back through the park.

Now what do you do when your phone rings and you're having quality time on your own ? Because we all know that if you answer it, although you may be in the park, once the phone is stuck to your ear and there's someome else barking down the other end of it, you may as well be on a bus, or watching television. The moment has, for the time you are on the phone, gone.

Not a lazy post in sight by the way, congratulations everyone !

Never trite, nor superfluous.

THERE'S ALWAYS AN EXCUSE FOR BEING AN HOUR LATE BUT THERE'S NEVER AN EXCUSE FOR BEING FIVE MINUTES LATE (MICHELLE ROUX)

Chris Evans | 06:03 UK time, Wednesday, 16 August 2006

Blog morning to you.

Just had a dream that DONNINGTON PARK was closing down, we were there making a film about it. We all got really sad and started to steal stuff as momentoes. I knicked the huge DUNLOP tyre that went over the track but when I got it home, realised I had nowhere to put it, so I left it outside hoping no one would notice. All day long people were walking under it, as I just stood at the window waiting to be shopped to the rozzers, surely it was only a question of time. Then it happened, a little girl stopped her mummy to point it out but when her mummy looked round, the huge half tyre arch had tranformed into a gigantic rainbow, with fireworks cascading down from the top.

HEMINGWAY, HE WAS A BIT OF A BOY

Chris Evans | 05:27 UK time, Tuesday, 15 August 2006

Lisa Stansfield again, ahhh ! (No offence to Lisa of course)

Been awake for ages thinking, all good, nothing bad, just excited really.

Thinking about the future, life is full of exciting decisions, after having been on the tear for the last few years, it's so good to be back on an even keel. From stability comes strength, from strength comes fearlessness, from fearlesness comes could decision making, from good decision making comes contentment. Bring it on.

RELCUTANTLY I'VE HAD TO TURN THE HEATING BACK ON.

Chris Evans | 11:50 UK time, Monday, 14 August 2006

Blog on everyone.

(Have now turned heating off again and put a sweater on as suggested. Thank you, in fact I am going to try to resist turning the heating back on ever !)

This Blog is a little tardy but I did warn you, although I was once again up at five, I was nowhere near my compiter, infact it was in another county.

What a fab weekend, lots of excercise, about twenty miles walking. Three excellent meals, good converstaion, not too much booze and plenty o f sleep, I feel as good as I have done for a long time.

Because it's later than normal and those lovely obscure sleepy thoughts that tend to go into my ramblings have long since faded, let me explain to you how the day works, as far as the show is concerened, seeing as I'm actualy in the middle of it right now.

IT'S SO DARK OUT THERE BUT THERE'S PLENTY OF LIGHT IN HERE

Chris Evans | 05:21 UK time, Friday, 11 August 2006

Guten Tag !

Why were we made to learn GERMAN at school, no one ever uses it, everyone knows we all want to speak ITALIAN anyway !

News just in:

WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION HAVE BEEN FOUND ! (They are my golf clubs and they are in the hallway right now. They are renouned for annihilating any one that comes near them)

And other news today:

I woke up with LISA STANSFIELD'S, "BEEN AROUND THE WORLD" in my head, it's still there now. Why don't you sing a bit of it ? And then see how long it takes you to shake it off. Not a bad song by the way.

SYMPOSIUM

Chris Evans | 05:10 UK time, Thursday, 10 August 2006

Blog of the morning to you.

Last night, on the show, it was hats off to Mr. JOHN HARRIS, a moon gardener and a lovely ninety year old lady who put most of us to shame with her wonderful attitude to life.

So, thirsty THUSRDAY is already upon us, this week may well have been the quickest of my life, it's strange that time is different for all of us. One day is someone else's week, a sure sign that we can speed up and slow time down, depending on how we live our lives. A great way to slow things down is silence, to read in candle light as opposed to lamp light, to have a bath, go for a walk, read a book, stay away from technology.

Anyways that's not why we're here today, first of all a quick word about today's title.

SAME AS IT EVER WAS

Chris Evans | 05:08 UK time, Wednesday, 9 August 2006

Morning morning. So how are we today ? Well, I hope.

How good was John McEnroe last night ? The guy is a God !

So, here I am again, ready for the day, the computer's on and off we go. I am still in bed though.

When I first wake up, it's usually because I need a wee. I then lie there for several minutes trying to deny this fact whilst also beginning to realise how dry my mouth is, so now I realise I need a drink as well. Gasping for a drink and busting for a pee and still I lie there refusing to admit defeat. I know I'm not going to get back to sleep and I know I'm going to continue to feel uncomfortable, why don't I just succumb and get this ol' bag 'o' bones a - movin'.

THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO FEAR THOSE WHO ARE DIFFERENT ARE THOSE WHO ARE NOT

Chris Evans | 05:39 UK time, Tuesday, 8 August 2006

Morning morning. It's 5 41 am, I've just woken up on my sofa, fully clothed. Don't get excited, nothing crazy to report here, it's just that I have two friends staying over and they're in my bed. Their names are Sue and Keith and they're from Manchester. They are lovely and loyal friends and they can have my bed any time, in fact they can have most anything from me any time.

The three of us took in a show last night and then we went for a late night dinner. Far too late really but I have to eat, otherwise for me the day has no meaning. Last night we ended up in my favorite Italian restaurant, I had the Monday night special, a lovely meat pasta, (ITALIAN SAUSAGE IN CREAM AS A STARTER !) followed with some pan fried lamb chops in a provencal, tomato and olive sauce. Scrummy.

More of this restaurant later.

DAY ONE

Chris Evans | 11:45 UK time, Monday, 7 August 2006

I don’t know about you but I spend, basically, the whole weekend getting fat and then the rest of the week trying to get thin again, so I can get fat again the next weekend.

This weekend has been highly successful in the getting fat stakes:- Three curries since Thursday, (two more than I usually allow myself), bacon butties every morning, including today, Monday, (very naughty), add to that a huge steak lunch on SATURDAY, six or seven mini bags of maltesers, walking food, pasties pies etc. and countless bags of pork scratchings, honey roasted peanuts and crisps.
