MORNING YOU CRAZY CATS.

Chris Evans | 10:56 UK time, Monday, 7 April 2008

So good to be back but here's the thing with having a week off...

...is it worth the weight ?

I swear I have put nearly a stone on, I'll know for sure in a bit once I go to the gym for the big "back at work weigh in."

It was a birthday week full of food. We went to Le Manoir not once but twice. My wife surprised me with an overnight there on Tuesday and I surprised her back with an overnight on Thursday. In-between saw The Rolling Stones premiere and yesterday the whole week was rounded off with a day in the pub and half a pub quiz last night. Left early to go home and watch the second half of the grand prix which I hadn't recorded !

Olympic torch madness, China should never have been given the olympics in the first place. The awarding of the games is a seal of approval that your nation is sort of alright in the first place, not a negotiating tool for the future of mankind. Now it's there though, our athletes should be allowed to go and compete. Imagine dedicating your life to something so completely and then have someone you've never met before telling you it was all for nothing because some unimmaginable idiots can't think of another way to cover up the fact we should have sorted all this out before China was even mooted as a potential games host.

Obviously nonsense from the off.

CLP.

2008.

P.S. Hello China, apparently the B.B.C. website has been allowed to be accessed there again forthe first time for ages.

    Morning Chris,
Glad you had a good birthday week. I have put on lots of weight too and so am very happy that the kids go back to school tomorrow and I can back into some sort of routine foodwise.

I thought it was a real shame what happened with the Olympic torch but at least we live in a democracy where people are allowed to have opinions and won't be tortured for them.

I have just finished reading A Thousand Splendid Suns and it really makes you realise how lucky we are to live in a free society where women are allowed to be equal to men and don't have to hide away and ask for permission from their husbands to leave the house.

Has anyone else been watching Mad Men? It is just the best thing I've seen on television in ages. The story, the acting, the clothes, it is just visual perfection.

Good to have you back Christophe, we've missed you.

Hope all is good for everyone else, how are you both Gingembre and Debbie?

Talkin' of none winners - CLP don't bother with the GP. It's a bad one. First Lewis totally messes up 'is blast off at the tart, sorry start. Then later Alonso 'as been up to 'is old tricks by alledgedly lifting off right in front of Lewis causing Leiws ter nearly go over the top of 'im. Lewis finished 13th!!!!
Fisi missed qualifying part 2 by 100th of asecond, then finished 12th - story of 'is life!!!

PS I'd just like ter thank the Blog Ploice for not allowing me Friday GP preview. Sometimes they are there like guardians - protecting me from me crazy blogs being shown & me making a fool of meself...... tarrrr!!!!!
I'm glad they didn't show me predictions of Lewis coming 3rd, Fisi qualifiying 14th & coming 8th as I was totally wrong - as usual!!!!

Always knew I should ave been a DCI - that's detective constable inspector NOT diesel commonrail injection...... one & all!!!!!

Okay ere's me Nostradamus thingy :

Since I got a Nost book around 2001 & became more interested in 'is predictaments there's one i've been waiting for that stood out to me. A prediction of death surrounding the 2008 Olympics. I always thought does it mean a terrorist outrage. Obviously I hope it doen't come true but now all this trouble surrounding Tibet & China is fitting in with the possibility of trouble surrounding the games.

The quatrain that Nostradamus wrote is as follows :

    Century 10/ Quatrain 74 :

The year the great seventh number is accomplished.
Appearing at the time of the great games of slaughter,
Not far from the age of the great millennium,
When the dead will come out of their graves.

Nostradamus never gives exact dates just little conundrums to get you thinking. It all seems to fit though that the 7th year 'as passed just after the 2000 millennium.
Plus interestingly the Olympic Games begin on the 08/08/08. 8 supersticiously a lucky number for the Chinese!

I'm a sceptic 45% & a believer 55%. I'm very interested ter see what 'appens with this quatrain - put Nostradamus to the test. We'll soon see!

I am also a big U2 fan as it happens! Also enjoy comedy programmes and I think the current run of Benidorm is a killer. You can catch up on the website.

Howya Christoff. Welcome back. Even though I can't hear yous over in God's own country.

Listen sunshine please stop frettin' over your weight. This 'ere diploma I'm studying for over here is in eating disorders and it's frightening the extent to which people, mainly adolescents, terrifyingly children as young as 5 or 6, but many older people, go in the pursuit of the mighty pound. Not that I'm saying you're anywhere near an eating disorder bless you, but it's this constant focus on body perfection in the media that triggers a lot of the problem so please think on, my friend. We should all simply mind our health and nutrition, cut out a lot of unnecessary crap, and thereafter be kind to each other and pay heed to another's anxieties and problems, especially our childrens', before they become misdirected into food issues.

Ok. Lecture over. Sorry about that but I felt I needed to say it.

I'm not sure how I feel about the protests. You're spot on as alwalys, LambPie, it's not fair to expect our athletes to pay for the neglect of the problem by the people with the power to solve it; but I've overheard several people saying that they've become aware through the news coverage of the riots that there IS a problem in China; (amazing in itself), but ask them if they know what the problem IS? They'll struggle to tell you.

So unless there's a concurrent effort to educate people as to what is actually going on and what the origin of the grievances are, there's really no point, is there.

For instance. On a lighter note. That advert on TV with the dog in the passenger seat of the car, singing "I'm A Maaan.." Hilarious, I laugh me socks off when that comes on. But anybody know what the ad is for?...

Oops best be off. I've to be in Kilkenny in an hour and I've had a tip-off that there's an upturned wheelbarrow on the main Cork-Dublin road so best get me skates on.

    See yers.
