MORNING YOU CRAZY CATS.
So good to be back but here's the thing with having a week off...
...is it worth the weight ?
I swear I have put nearly a stone on, I'll know for sure in a bit once I go to the gym for the big "back at work weigh in."
It was a birthday week full of food. We went to Le Manoir not once but twice. My wife surprised me with an overnight there on Tuesday and I surprised her back with an overnight on Thursday. In-between saw The Rolling Stones premiere and yesterday the whole week was rounded off with a day in the pub and half a pub quiz last night. Left early to go home and watch the second half of the grand prix which I hadn't recorded !
Olympic torch madness, China should never have been given the olympics in the first place. The awarding of the games is a seal of approval that your nation is sort of alright in the first place, not a negotiating tool for the future of mankind. Now it's there though, our athletes should be allowed to go and compete. Imagine dedicating your life to something so completely and then have someone you've never met before telling you it was all for nothing because some unimmaginable idiots can't think of another way to cover up the fact we should have sorted all this out before China was even mooted as a potential games host.
Obviously nonsense from the off.
CLP.
2008.

P.S. Hello China, apparently the B.B.C. website has been allowed to be accessed there again forthe first time for ages.

woo hoo, you're back! Glad you had a lovely week off. How could you leave half way through a pub quiz?? Naughty CLP!!!
Hi everyone - hope this gets through, I've almost given up trying to post these days!!
T xxxxxxx
Morning Chris,
Glad you had a good birthday week. I have put on lots of weight too and so am very happy that the kids go back to school tomorrow and I can back into some sort of routine foodwise.
I thought it was a real shame what happened with the Olympic torch but at least we live in a democracy where people are allowed to have opinions and won't be tortured for them.
I have just finished reading A Thousand Splendid Suns and it really makes you realise how lucky we are to live in a free society where women are allowed to be equal to men and don't have to hide away and ask for permission from their husbands to leave the house.
Has anyone else been watching Mad Men? It is just the best thing I've seen on television in ages. The story, the acting, the clothes, it is just visual perfection.
Good to have you back Christophe, we've missed you.
Hope all is good for everyone else, how are you both Gingembre and Debbie?

Greetings CLP & ALL Blog Punks,
Bingo Star ere.
Yo CLP - I know the feeling about the stomach. When yer go away & enjoy yersen eating different food yer digestions systems ain't able ter cope - 'ence the bloated stomach. CLP my answer is grapes n' prunes ter get back on track.
I've 'ad similar probs but am as trim as i'l ever be due ter the Ukrainian preperation diet ave been on..... aka gym, grapes, prunes, bananas..... & lucozade.... try it CLP - it's a winner!!!!!
Talkin' of winners. I won on the national at the weekend!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah ave won at me local bingo a free trip on the National Express, yes, a single ter Scarborough!!!!!!
Talkin' of none winners - CLP don't bother with the GP. It's a bad one. First Lewis totally messes up 'is blast off at the tart, sorry start. Then later Alonso 'as been up to 'is old tricks by alledgedly lifting off right in front of Lewis causing Leiws ter nearly go over the top of 'im. Lewis finished 13th!!!!
Fisi missed qualifying part 2 by 100th of asecond, then finished 12th - story of 'is life!!!
PS I'd just like ter thank the Blog Ploice for not allowing me Friday GP preview. Sometimes they are there like guardians - protecting me from me crazy blogs being shown & me making a fool of meself...... tarrrr!!!!!
I'm glad they didn't show me predictions of Lewis coming 3rd, Fisi qualifiying 14th & coming 8th as I was totally wrong - as usual!!!!
Whoops what ave I just written!
Prof Plum - Tarr about the Simple Minds!
Doctor Beaker - Sorry ter 'ear about the 'edgehog!!!!
Chow!
PS I'll bang me Olympics Nostradamus thingy on later - if the blog iz working or the BP don't think it's too mad!
Hi Chris... great to have you back. Mr Mayo was not to dreadful and kept us merrily entertained. Olympics torch thingy was a bit mental... were we the only country to do such a protest?
Em - MadMen - superb stuff. I really wished I lived in that time (apart from the incessent smoking!). Don't you think the lead guy (Don) would make an excellent James Bond. He's spitting image of wot you imagine him to be!

Welcome back Chris - great to hear y'all again - sounded like a nice week . .
Have a good "Slight return" this eve . . sorry, in ARF mode again . .

Chris
I'm loving being called a 'crazy cat' : )
Two overnighters at Le Manoir is very good going. However, I thought you were meant to find FOUR reasons to go to Le Manoir - I always thought the 'saisons' was cockney rhyming slang for raisons? Non?
Mange tout.

I'm not sure about this Le Manoir. I see for a standard room per night with french breakfast which is a bread roll and a cuppa tea. You could have Half Board for a whole week in Majorca.
You know it's a difficult choice.
Bingo I think Prof Plum must have very good taste in Music .
Yo CLP.
How hangs it. I've had a cool week, and now I'm in for a cooler one!
Last week, between me and my mum, we raised £1000 for Clic Sargent......
This week I discovered I have arthritis, but hey ... if I loose some weight and do the exercise I've been promising myself, it'll all be good!
Nice to see you have Christof!
DWNB
Hey CLP!!
Welcome back - you were sorely missed. Mr Mayo "held the fort" but doesn't have the same joi de vivre as your goodself. Woman's Minute (and any other guests for that matter) turned into interrogations rather than amusing, warm interviews!
But that's just my view.
Anyhoo, re: worth the weight ....
.... could this be the return of THE POWER PLATE?!??
Love, peas and brown eyed girls!
CtD x x
PS: It's a marvellous night for a moondance ....
Welcome back Chris,
It seems that your birthday week off has done you the world of wonders and two sessions at Le Manoir to cap it off.
Doctor Beaker methinks you are the reincarnation of Prof Plum with all these compliments! Long live Muppets and Fraggles.
I look forward to the mayhem of drivetime crew.
Phoenix
Fraggles. Bacon flavour rasher shaped crispy things .... ?

Still lovin' my new hat!
Welcome welcome welcome back CLP - will you fit on the webcam?
Stupid China even being considered in the first place but as everything is now made there???
Have you read the rubbish reports from McLaren and Renault - I SAW it with zillions of others and the difference in acceleration can't be that great! Trying to reduce more F1 bad publicity methinks!!
Hi! Doctor Beaker nee Prof Plum
Biggles Mum xxx
OOO eee - seen how much postal rates have gone up today?!!!!!!!!!!!
Ctd dying to know what the hat looks like - full description please

Welcome back Chris.
All is more or less well here on planet Earth.
Tired, oh, so tired.
There is a programme on this Friday about insomnia. Presented by our Toyah, who, bless her little cotton socks, hasn't had a decent nights kip in over 30 years. Well Ms Wilcox, it is no mystery to me, I'm 10 down and catching up.
We have sold a car. So we should, that is what we do, but get this. No, you'll have to come closer 'cause I don't want anyone to hear this....
3/4 of a mill.
And, it's the wrong colour. Going to be resprayed upon purchase.
I wish I could tell you more, but I'd be shot at dawn.
And the worst thing about that would be that I wouldn't have been to sleep at that point.
Much love
MfR
very deep for a monday...me old china...know what i mean, monge tout,...good to have you back ...and mr mayo again on the radio brings back a few memoires does that.......
Greetings CLP & ALL,
Bingo Star ere.
Doctor Beaker - Yes the Prof Plum does seem ter ave a good taste in music. I wonder if Prof likes INXS & U2 too? Similar bands if yer ask me in the late 80's - all damn good wrockin'!!!!!
PS Doctor Beaker - Are you a man or a woman?
I got me wires crossed with Prof Plum & a just get a feeling am I getting them crossed now?
Always knew I should ave been a DCI - that's detective constable inspector NOT diesel commonrail injection...... one & all!!!!!
Okay ere's me Nostradamus thingy :
Since I got a Nost book around 2001 & became more interested in 'is predictaments there's one i've been waiting for that stood out to me. A prediction of death surrounding the 2008 Olympics. I always thought does it mean a terrorist outrage. Obviously I hope it doen't come true but now all this trouble surrounding Tibet & China is fitting in with the possibility of trouble surrounding the games.
The quatrain that Nostradamus wrote is as follows :
Century 10/ Quatrain 74 :
The year the great seventh number is accomplished.
Appearing at the time of the great games of slaughter,
Not far from the age of the great millennium,
When the dead will come out of their graves.
Nostradamus never gives exact dates just little conundrums to get you thinking. It all seems to fit though that the 7th year 'as passed just after the 2000 millennium.
Plus interestingly the Olympic Games begin on the 08/08/08. 8 supersticiously a lucky number for the Chinese!
I'm a sceptic 45% & a believer 55%. I'm very interested ter see what 'appens with this quatrain - put Nostradamus to the test. We'll soon see!
Chow!
hey Em, I'm fine, hope you're okay too?

Hello All and welcome back Chris
Worth the weight..........if the gymn or Bingo's diet doesn't work there is always lipo.
However as a rule if it's gone on quick, it comes off quick.......and there speaks a master dieter!!
Sorry Doc Beaker your hedgehog doesn't get any reaction from me... hard hearted hannah that I am. Currently in floods of tears watching the documentary on channel 4 about the poor guy they called the elephant man. Makes me feel well ashamed wingeing about my odd wrinkle or two. I hope he makes it through the ops.
Signing off before I flood my laptop and Manchester.
LadyP
Hello
Tuesdays are the longest days of the week aren't they?
LadyP
Morning one and all
Well there is no fooling you clever lot is there?
Bingo, in answer to your question. Yes I am a woman with a slightly mad northern sense of humour. I guess it's because I originate from Manchester. Something they put in the water. I now live down on the South Coast.
I am also a big U2 fan as it happens! Also enjoy comedy programmes and I think the current run of Benidorm is a killer. You can catch up on the website.
Lady P, glad I missed that programme on the Elephant man as it sounded quite harrowing.
Anyway thats about as normal as I will ever get on here.
PS MFR, that must have been some supercar!
Adios amigo's
Howya Christoff. Welcome back. Even though I can't hear yous over in God's own country.
Listen sunshine please stop frettin' over your weight. This 'ere diploma I'm studying for over here is in eating disorders and it's frightening the extent to which people, mainly adolescents, terrifyingly children as young as 5 or 6, but many older people, go in the pursuit of the mighty pound. Not that I'm saying you're anywhere near an eating disorder bless you, but it's this constant focus on body perfection in the media that triggers a lot of the problem so please think on, my friend. We should all simply mind our health and nutrition, cut out a lot of unnecessary crap, and thereafter be kind to each other and pay heed to another's anxieties and problems, especially our childrens', before they become misdirected into food issues.
Ok. Lecture over. Sorry about that but I felt I needed to say it.
I'm not sure how I feel about the protests. You're spot on as alwalys, LambPie, it's not fair to expect our athletes to pay for the neglect of the problem by the people with the power to solve it; but I've overheard several people saying that they've become aware through the news coverage of the riots that there IS a problem in China; (amazing in itself), but ask them if they know what the problem IS? They'll struggle to tell you.
So unless there's a concurrent effort to educate people as to what is actually going on and what the origin of the grievances are, there's really no point, is there.
For instance. On a lighter note. That advert on TV with the dog in the passenger seat of the car, singing "I'm A Maaan.." Hilarious, I laugh me socks off when that comes on. But anybody know what the ad is for?...
Oops best be off. I've to be in Kilkenny in an hour and I've had a tip-off that there's an upturned wheelbarrow on the main Cork-Dublin road so best get me skates on.
See yers.
Clodagh.xx
Sounds like a great week off, Christophe. Just what the doctor (but not the dietician) ordered.
DtM - that's so weird! I was thinking of requesting Slight Return this week - haven't heard it for time!
You're blogging at 6:30am LadyP? No wonder Tuesdays seem long to you! Get thee back to bed!
One day down, three to go...

Hi again,
Dawnielass - so glad someone else is watching Mad Men, all the critics are raving about it but you're the first "real person" I've "met" who has seen it (or are you a secret TV critic, not AA Gill I hope!). Don is absolutely gorgeous as is January Jones who plays his wife (What a cool name!). I would love to live in 1960 just for the fashions, clothes like that suit curvy girls! Also I gave up smoking 3 years ago and watching that makes me crave a ciggy! There is so much good telly on right now, thank God for my freeview recorder. Why anyone needs Sky is beyond me. Gavin and Stacey is just wonderful, I've got a thing about Rob Brydon, get him on the show Chris!
Gingembre - yes I am fine thanks, just about coming to terms with the fact I am 40 this year! Hope your daughter is OK xxx
Em xx
My tuppence worth re olympics - I must confess I felt proud when I heard about all the peaceful disruptions to the torch. And then the French have continued with it - I think it's great. I do believe China have made great roads in recent years and acknowledge they have a long way still to go. However, occupation of any foreign country (be it Tibet or Iraq) is wrong and should be highlighted, especially when there is cultural genocide being attempted.
Off me soap box now...

Whoa Bingo that's scary! Hope it's not this weeks marathon my niece is running in! Got the Doc/Plum thing yet?
Clodagh I loooove that advert - it's a man thing for a car of course - think its a VW polo.
Gingembre isn't your knee op soon? Best of luck!
Mfr just give us a clue re the make?
CtD description of hat please?

Good Afternoon all
Totally agree that China should never have been given the olympics, ridiculous really.
Hi Em, I'm fine thanks. I'm just fighting off the end of a horrible cold but otherwise fine.
Clodagh can I just thank you for your post last week too. You completely summed up what I was thinking and I have now moved on without any bad feeling or bitterness.
Gingembre good luck with the knee, I bet you can't wait to get it over and done with now.
Trying to get used to being a 'lady of leisure' ha ha, being at home with the kids is ten times more hard work!! But it's great.
Love

Ever mind the VW Polo add and the difference that driving a polo does to the dogs confidence levels. What about the new QashQai (Cash-k-eye) ad with the building all waking up and watching the car drive around the city at play! Top notch! Cack car though!
Good to have the master back in full operation last evening, SM was good, certainly better than SMac but he’s no CLP!
DD out
PS It’s cool for cats!
I thought so one and all
Oldest kid on the blog. Doctor Beaker or infact Dr Beeker was in Supercars. Nothing to do with Fraggle rock.
Least Steve Wright is older than me .. Phew.
