Goood afternoon to you, I hope you're having a good day.

Blimey it's been a busy one this morning. Take That were our guests today. When guests visit the show they usually turn up about 20 minutes before and relax in the world famous live lounge. I have NEVER seen so many people congregated in this small space. They must have brought about 15 people with them!

Gary, Jason, Mark and Howard came in to announce that they're doing a massive tour next year ....If you want to find out more about the tour etc click here....

Its quarter to 11 here at Radio One Hq. I am now doing the blog desperately trying to keep my eyes open. We all had a very late night watching Oasis at the Roundhouse to close the Electric Proms - they were bang on time at half 8 so good job we legged it from the pub!!
They were sooo sooo good - have seen them a couple of times before - at the Astoria was ace but this was definitely the best so far - Noel and Liam on really good form and the new drummer is awesome.

Firstly apologies for no blog on Friday - it was poor show on our behalf, I'm writing the team blog today (Aled), and I wasn't here on Friday so I blame Matt Fincham (even though he was with me in Walsall!)

Today however...

Chris is inviting Rachel, Aled, Dave, Piers and Ben to his house for a meeting
Dave is going to a meeting a Chris' house
Rachel is going to a meeting a Chris' house
Aled is going to a meeting a Chris' house
Dom is interviewing a famous celebrity today - but we've been told we're not allowed to mention who it is as it's a secret
Carrie is catching up on some sleep and then is doing some circuit training.

Carrie will post her blog later on.

Poland

Comedy Dave | 17:36 UK time, Thursday, 23 October 2008

Hi there Thursday fans. Dave here with an update all about Thursday. On my way home today, I went to get my car washed at a Polish car washing place in West London. This itself isn't the most interesting of facts, but twice as I was sat on a three-legged office chair in a disused pub carpark reading a copy last Tuesday's Mirror Newspaper while the nice man did my £10 mini valet, I was confused for being the owner of the carwash.

I don't know whether this is because I look Polish, or whether I look like I could be running a carwash, but twice within the space of 10 minutes two car drivers approached me enquiring into the different cleaning options available.

It's a Gargoyle - or Gargmoyle - if you will. Here it is displayed on a furry cushion.

It's grand to find a comfortable chair when you're getting on a bit or you've got arthritis.

My niece got this from Shackleton's you know - Shackleton's original high seat. I never thought it would be so easy to get in and out of.

First she sent for their brochure, then went to the showroom. They had over a hundred chairs to choose from. Shackleton's high seat chair - it's lovely.

It's the weekend! What are the team doing?

Afternoon blogsters

Rachel | 15:10 UK time, Tuesday, 14 October 2008

 Rachel

Afternoon blog readers,

I'm currently walking down the street not far from Radio 1, having just left the building after a busy day's work. I've realised that I haven't written my blog entry for the day, so it's over to the kind Matt Fincham to scribe my thoughts. If anything isn't accurate or doesn't read well, please blame him (Yeah yeah Rach! -M).

It's been a hectic day - Aled's on a course, so it's a change of team with Pippa helping us out. We've got Mel B dropping by the show tomorrow morning ahead of her being on 1Xtra and presenting the MOBOs. We last saw her in LA - and she's quite a live wire! She'll probably flash her chest at Chris again in the studio.

This time of year always gets really busy for guests on the show because every man and his dog has got something to plug in the run up to Christmas. On Friday, Jonathan Ross is on the show - and guess what - he's got a book out soon. Russell Brand is in next week - and yes, you've guessed it - he's also got a book out.

You might have heard me moaning today on the show that I'm feeling a bit under the weather. For some reason, my legs are still aching from the half marathon I did the other week. I've been doing various lunges and stretches, but nothing seems to be working. So if you have any suggestions of how to sort me out, please drop me a line!

Anyway, I'm just about you get on the Underground - so I need to sign off.

Thanks to Matt Fincham for writing this - he can be employee of the week. I'm hoping he hasn't doctored anything. (It was so tempting, but I refrained -M).

Rach x

Dear Blog Family

Dave here with a Thursday update from me. Today we had Richard not Judy Richard Madeley on the show. He was plugging a book he's written all about his forefathers who had a strange coincidence on a train at Crewe station years ago.

It's a tale of coincidence and history and family and stuff I think and actually sounds very interesting.

When I told him how interesting I thought it was today on the show, he maybe thought I was taking the micky. I wasn't of course, I just don't think I possess a very sincere tone.

Mega Chocolate Fudge Cake recipe

Matt Fincham | 09:44 UK time, Thursday, 9 October 2008

Hi guys,

Here's today's recipe from Jamie. As ever, please send in pictures of your creations to chris.moyles@bbc.co.uk. Make sure you have 'food' in the header!

Cheers,

Matt

MEGA CHOCOLATE FUDGE CAKE

This cake is best made using a food processor, as you can simply add everything and blitz it up together, but you can easily make it by hand if you buy ground almonds and grate the chocolate into the mix.

Serves 8
200g good-quality dark chocolate (70% cocoa solids)
175g butter, plus extra for greasing
120g soft brown sugar
100g blanched almonds
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
A pinch of salt
4 large eggs, preferably free-range or organic
150g self-raising flour
100g fudge
Crème fraîche or vanilla ice cream

To make your cake:
Preheat the oven to 160°/320°F/gas 2
Break up the chocolate, put it into a food processor with the butter, sugar, almonds, 1 tablespoon of the cocoa powder and the salt, and whiz until smooth. Crack your eggs, one at a time, into the food processor and add the flour. Whiz again until smooth.

To bake your cake:
Get a deep baking dish roughly 25 x 25cm in size. Butter the dish really well and sprinkle the remaining tablespoon of cocoa powder over it. Shake it around a bit so it lightly coats the whole surface of the dish. Pour the cake mixture into the dish, using a spatula to scrape it all out of the processor. Break the fudge pieces and sprinkle these over the top of the cake mix, pushing any larger pieces down into the mixture. Pop the baking dish into the preheated oven and cook for 19 to 20 minutes. Take the cake out of the oven and stick a fork into the middle of it. If there's a little bit if cake mixture on the fork when you pull it out, that's okay - you want the cake to still be a little moist inside so that it's nice and squidy. However, if it seems a bit wobbly, pop it back into the oven for another 3 to 5 minutes to firm it up.

To serve your cake:
Let your cake cool slightly and serve it warm and gooey. Lovely with a dollop of crème fraîche or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Dom | 17:27 UK time, Wednesday, 8 October 2008

Hello blogger loggers, I'm currently driving to a secret location (Nottingham) to pick up a new car. This is a bitter sweet day for me, we are getting a car that's great but unfortunately we're having to wave goodbye to our beloved green family multi-purpose vehicle.

We've had so many amazing memories in said car. We've driven quite literally miles in it and have listen to some of our favourite songs on it's average radio system. The new car has more seats but I hope it'll have as big a heart as the old one.

That said, it was pretty knackered and it was time to get rid of it anyway.

After collecting the car I can think of no better way of celebrating than attempting to cook Chicken korma provided by our new chef in residence: Jamie Oliver. Will let you know how it all goes tomorrow.

Bye bye.

Dom

p.s . If you know where Emily Lowe is then send us an e-mail!

This is what the team are doing today

Rachel | 10:04 UK time, Wednesday, 8 October 2008

Apart from cooking Jamie Oliver's Chicken korma this is what the team will be doing today:

Chris will be clearing out his front room - today he has to clear two more video shelves. He's then going to the post office (he didn't make it yesterday, went to the recycling centre instead) he'll then end up having dinner with a famous lady.
Dave will be doing boring business.
Dom is having a sad day. He's finally selling the picasso (the car not the painter). He's then buying a new car.
Carrie is having a celebratory lunch with a friend who's going to be a dad.
Rachel is meeting up with her friend Carolyn for lunch. She's then going out for a drink as she doesn't have to get up early for the morning.
Aled WILL be going to bed early as does have to get up early.

Recipe for Chicken Korma

Post categories:

Aled | 09:03 UK time, Wednesday, 8 October 2008

If you'd like to take part in tonight's cook-a-long with the team, here's the recipe:

(Serves 4 - 6)
800g skinless and boneless chicken thighs or breasts, preferably free-range or organic
2 medium onions
optional: 1 fresh green chilli
a thumb sized piece of fresh root ginger
a small bunch of fresh coriander
1 x 400g tin of chickpeas
groundnut or vegetable oil
a knob of butter
1/2 a 290g jar of Patak's korma curry paste
1 x 400ml tin of coconut milk
a small handful of flaked almonds, plus extra for serving
2 heaped tablespoons desiccated coconut
sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
500g natural yoghurt
1 lemon

To prepare your curry
Cut the chicken into approximately 3cm pieces
Peel halve and finely slice your onions
Halve, deseed and finely slice the chilli if you're using it
Peel and finely chop the ginger
Pick the coriander leaves and finely chop the stalks
Drain the chickpeas

To make your curry
Put a large casserole-type pan on a high heat and add a couple of lugs of oil
Put the chicken thighs into the pan, if using, stir around and brown lightly on all sides for 5 minutes (if using breasts, don't put them in yet)
Push the chicken to one side of the pan
Stir in the onions, chilli, ginger and coriander stalks with the butter
keep stirring it enough so it doesn't catch and burn but turns evenly golden
Cook for around 10 minutes
Add the korma curry paste, coconut milk, half your flaked almonds, the drained chickpeas, desiccated coconut and sliced chicken breasts (if using)
Half fill the empty tin with water, pour it into the pan, and stir again
Bring to the boil, then turn the heat down and simmer for 30 minutes with the lid on
Check the curry regularly to make sure it's not drying out, and add extra water if necessary
When the chicken is tender and cooked, taste and season with salt and pepper - please season carefully

To serve your curry
Serve with rice
Add a few spoonsfulls of natural yoghurt dolloped on top, and sprinkle over the rest of the flaked almonds
Finish by scattering over the coriander leaves and serve with lemon wedges for squeezing over.

Good luck!

Don't forget to send the pics of your creation to chris.moyles@bbc.co.uk and we'll put the pictures up here!

Rachel | 11:57 UK time, Tuesday, 7 October 2008

Hello one and all it's Rachel checking in on the blog. Hope you're having a good day.

So, if you've been listening to the show today and yesterday you'll know that we've all been trying our hand at a spot of cooking. Last night was hilarious. There was I at 8pm not just cooking sizzling beef with black bean sauce, but also posing for photos with the wok. For the next hour the entire Chris Moyles team sent photos round to each other comparing the dishes. It was very funny at the time....but maybe you needed to be there. You can see the fruits of our labour in a previous blog.

Tonight we're all trying pasta, peas and bacon - or something like that. You'll find there recipe in the last blog. Feel free to join in and send in your photos to Chris.moyles@bbc.co.uk. I'll check the emails when I get in tomorrow morning. Put Food in the title!

I'm going to be cooking mine this afternoon, as it's pilates tonight.

I have to say Jamie Oliver is a very nice person. The interview yesterday was quite deep in parts, but he genuinely is trying to make this country a better place. I was very impressed.

Apart from cooking tonight's Jamie Oliver's dinner (Bacon and pea pasta) the team will also be doing the following:

Chris will be soaking his foot twice and taking lots of cold medication. In addition to this he's going to try and queeze in Fifa 09 and going to the Post Office
Rachel is going spinning and then on to Pilates
Carrie will be taking some more medication and having a snooze.
Dom is cleaning out the Picasso and is trying to get offers.
Dave is not really doing anything today..except for picking up Nicole from nursery and watching Mickey Mouse's club house.
Aled is having Record Company appointments and then worrying about what the confession might be tomorrow.

Another one of Jamie's recipes

Post categories:

Matt Fincham | 09:52 UK time, Tuesday, 7 October 2008

After the success of yesterday's beef recipe, here's another one for you to try tonight. Let us know how it goes!

Mint shell pasta with a creamy smoked bacon and pea sauce

Serves 4-6 people
• 10 slices smoked or streaky bacon or pancetta
• A small handful of fresh mint
• 150g parmesan cheese
• Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
• 1 chicken stock cube, preferably organic
• 400g mini shell pasta
• Olive oil
• 1 knob of butter
• 300g frozen peas
• 2 heaped dessertspoons of crème fraiche
• 1 lemon

To prepare your pasta
Slice the bacon into thin matchsticks; chop the mint and finely grate the parmesan

To cook your pasta
Bring a large pan of salted water to the boil then break in the stock cube. Stir until it's dissolved then add the pasta and cook according to the packet instructions. Get a large frying pan over a medium heat and add a good lug of olive oil and the butter. Add the bacon or pancetta to the pan and fry until golden and crisp. As soon as the bacon is golden, add your frozen peas and give the pan a good shake. After a minute or so, add the crème fraiche to the bacon and peas. Drain the pasta in a colander over a large bowl, reserving some of the cooking water. Add the pasta to the frying pan, halve your lemon and squeeze over the juice. Add the chopped mint. Let it all bubble away nicely then remove from the heat. The sauce should be creamy and delicious, you can add a splash of the cooking water to loosen if needed. Add the grated parmesan and give the pan a shake.

To serve your pasta
Divide up between plates or serve on a big dish so everyone can help themselves. This is lovely served with a simply-dressed green salad.

Carrie
Good evening to all - again apologies for the late entry - thats the bummer of working all day on a Monday!
But rushing around has not been easy today - I am SO SO stiff from doing the Run to the Beat Half Marathon yesterday. Really pleased that I managed 11 miles without stopping and probably only walked for a about a minute just to get my breath back on the final 2 miles! The last mile went on forever!! Well done to any of you who did that race and the thousands of you who ran the Great North Run!! Any tips for recovery??

Jamie's Recipe

Rachel | 09:10 UK time, Monday, 6 October 2008

This morning on the show Jamie Oliver us to cook a dinner tonight. If you want to cook what the team are about to do here's the recipe:

Serves 2

Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
200g long-grain or basmati rice
1 x 230g sirloin or rump steak
a thumb-sized piece of fresh ginger
2 cloves of garlic
1/2 a fresh red chilli
2 spring onions
a small bunch of fresh coriander
2 tablespoons sesame oil
groundnut oil
2 tablespoons of good-quality black bean sauce
2-3 tablespoons soy sauce
2 limes

To prepare your stir fry:
Bring a pan of salted water to the boil, add the rice and cook according to the packet instructions. Drain the rice in a sieve, run it under a cold tap to cool, then allow to dry out in the fridge.
Trim any excess fat from your steak and skice the meat into finger sizes strips.
Peel and finely slice the garlic and ginger.
Finely slice the chilli.
Cut the ends of the spring onions and finely slice.
Pick the coriander leaves and put to one side. Get a big bowl and put in the ginger, garlic, chilli, spring onions, coriander stalks and steak strips. Add the sesame oil and mix everything together.

To cook the stir fry...

Preheat the wok or large frying pan on a high heat and once very hot add a good glug of oil. Add all your chopped ingredients from the bowl. Stir fry for 2 mins make sure it doesn't burn. Add the black bean sauce and stir in 1 tablespoon of soy sauce and juice from half a lime. Keep tossing.

Taste and season with pepper and a little more soy sauce. Remove pan from the heat and transfer everything to a bowl and cover with foil.

Give the pan a quick wipe with a ball of kitchen paper and put back on the heat. Add a lug of groundnut oil and swirl it around. Crack in your egg and add a tablespoon of soy sauce - the egg will cook very quick so keep stirring. Once it's scrambled, stir in our rice, scraping the sides and the bottom of the pan as you go. Keep mixing for a few minutes until the rice is steaming hot, then taste and season with a little soy sauce.

To serve the sir fry..
Divide the rice between 2 bowls or plates. Spoon over the meat and black bean sauce and sprinkle over the coriander leaves. Serve with a wedge of lime - great!

Have fun!

His tired temper tandtrum was quite funny to hear - it's even funnier to see!

Here's the video:

oh, p.s. Max Beelsey's a late addition to tomorrow morning's show!

Morning everybody, we've just finished the show and are doing the morning meeting.

So here's what the team are up to today....

Chris got his new desk yesterday, but didn't get to see it, so he's going to see it today. He worked all day yesterday so is hoping to have a treat tonight of going to the pub.

Dave is doing assorted business and then is paying a trip to the municipal recycling centre.

Carrie is having lunch with her friends and their new baby.

Dom is going to watch Liverpool v PSV Eindhoven at home because he's under the thumb.

Rachel

Dom will be blogging today so look out for that!
