Johnny vs Dinosaurs - It's this week's new movies...
Public Enemies - long, ponderous and...dare I say it...frequently dull true story of 30s bank robber John Dillinger (Johnny Depp, above in his shades). You never really get to know the characters until the final, blistering half hour and Christian Bale as Dillinger's FBI nemesis is wasted. Thank God for the occasionally breathtaking shoot-out and Depp's movie star glow. Not essential though. 3 stars.
Ice Age: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs - the 3-D's pertty pointless and the plot about dinosaurs living underground is desperate. Luckily the continuing the saga of Scrat and his serach for nuts reaches new poetic proportions to take away the boredom of Manny the Mammoth and his dull mates. For the undemanding. 2 stars.

His 2 stars and slating comments motivated me to join this so I could give some positive feedback about the movie. We watched it on Wednesday and the whole cinema were laughing throughout the film. It was a very funny movie. We loved it. His comments regarding the plot of dinosaurs living underground is desperate made me laugh - after all it is a cartoon movie with talking, extinct animals!! I do agree the Scrat saga is very funny and it is good to see he gets more of a story this time, but the story of Sid and the baby dinosaurs was very funny. Diego was sort of sidelined in the movie, but the story was about moving on and embracing change with the impending babys arrival. We enjoyed the 3D experience but it wasnt really necessary. It would have been just as good without 3D. Finally, James I would spend a little more time in spell checking your comments, not really acceptable for a representative of the ´óÏó´«Ã½. Your tardy mistakes really do not provide you with much critic credibility. (pertty, serach, the continuing the).

Having seen both movies, to distinguish them by merely one star is ridiculous - Public Enemies is a far superior work (although not as good as American Gangster)and many of the elements that you criticized, such as the quiet speech, I felt only served to draw one further into the tale that Michael Mann was weaving. Also, I feel it wholly disingenuous of you to give 2 stars to ice age after reporting that the only enjoyable (and relatively short) sections focused on one minor character. Give it 1 star and do not be afraid of upsetting people.
