Fantastic Exclusive Behind The Scenes Photos for Fantastic Mr Fox
Wes Anderson's Fantastic Mr Fox picked up an Oscar nomination for Best Animated film this week, and we've got our grubby fox like paws on some exclusive behind the scenes photos.
Fantastic Mr Fox is Wes' first animated film and tells the story of the Roald Dahl book. It features the voices of George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray and Jarvis Cocker and is out on DVD & Blu-ray on the 1st March.
The whole film is done via handmade stop-motion techniques, often with Wes acting out scenes in Paris and emailing clips to the animators. He also took his voice cast out of a studio to record their lines, a best take was almost ruined by the sound of a nearby boat. Open to the randomness, Wes modified the scene in the film to include an airplane flying through the shot. Anderson said, "I think it was better with the airplane than without... a flaw in the recording gave us a new idea."
There were 535 puppets made for the film, 102 of them were for Mr Fox himself. All the human characters' hair was actual human hair collected from studio employees and it took 7 months to perfect the very first Mr. Fox puppet.
Here are some exclusive pictures from the making of those puppets. First up here is Wes on set being all director like and having a fiddle with the puppets.
