London Calling
So are you interested in Boris Johnson and the London Mayoral story if you live outside London? Loads of you texted the programme today to say you are not. Here's a small selection..
Introducing Thom the teacher
Meet Thom, fresh-faced teacher and DJ extraordinaire.
He's going to be a regular on the show over the next year as he tells all about what life is like as a teacher in Britain in 2007. Is it really just unruly kids, exam targets and unsupportive parents?
Take it away, Thom...
GI David and Teacher Thom
Some of you thought I was too sympathetic today towards the American solider. David Bellavia has written a book about the bloody house-to-house fighting in the Iraqi city of Fallujah. Several of you emailed/texted to say he was simply spouting propaganda.
Boys Don't Cry
I can't remember a time when we've had more phonecalls, texts and emails in response to the amazing 999 call we played on today's show. And thankyou for all your blog postings too.
Emergency response
Listen to this - it's the actual audio from a 999 call made by Leo as his pregnant wife's contractions get stronger. She'd planned a home birth, but the midwife was stuck in traffic - what could Leo do but ring 999?
Listen to the 999 call (8min) (Requires RealPlayer)
Leo and his wife were on Monday's programme.
Mour's the pity
Is it sexist to say on the radio "Mourinho is gorgeous"? Some of you said it was. It was the perfect radio phone-in for me - we started talking about his tactical nous and ended up talking about his divine good looks. Just shows how the listeners steer the conversation.
Naomi and me
Not sure quite why I feel the need to say this but Naomi Campbell is extremely attractive in real life. Her photo here doesn't do her justice.
Reminds me, I must make a bit more effort to do my blusher/lippie before I go on the radio.
Anyway some of you were reasonably complimentary about her desire to raise funds for victims of the summer floods in the UK.
Listen again to the interview here (8m 5s)
PC Blogs
By the way, on the programme this morning are two police constables who've been writing anonymous blogs about their jobs on the front line.
One has now identified himself because he's leaving the UK to work for the Canadian police - he's had enough of being a copper in Britain. Read his blog here -
The other is written by a WPC -
Heads must roll
I thought the "controversy" over our decision to ask listeners if they wanted us to continue discussing the McCann case on last Monday's programme was over. No no no.
Now what happens?
Hello.
Up until this very moment I have been a blog-virgin. No longer.
Now what happens?
