Tommy Cockles
Blazer wearing, deadpan entertainer, Tommy Cockles, claims to be a contemporary of Arthur Atkinson, and is often called on to introduce footage of his fellow performer.
With thinly disguised contempt he talks about his memories of Atkinson's career. According to Cockles, working with Atkinson was 'hell'.
He also revealed that he lost out on several roles to Arthur - almost always because of an incident involving Tommy's wife and another player of the day. Tommy claims that he ended up having to find work in Australia for breaking Kenneth Connor's thumbs.
In spite of his apparently bland exterior, Tommy has hardly a good word to say about Arthur Atkinson. He variously has called his work 'a debacle', 'rubbish' and 'very poor', and summed him up as 'A lonely, bitter, pinched, wizened git.'
