Don't forget your Wellington boots, a plastic container, a net and a good guidebook
for rock pooling. Wet suits and snorkelling kit for snorkellers. Binoculars for
bird watchers. Take sensible precautions when rockpooling and scuba diving
- don't do these activities on your own. Get some help from your local scuba club

all year. The best time to go rock pooling is during ultra low tides or spring
tides, which occur twice every month. | Access: | Castle
- access very limited; steep, cobbled access ramp, many steps and stairs within
the castle. Braille guide. Access to Priory - tarmac path, then five steps to
priory. Fairly steep slope in outer courtyard. Access to beach varies. | Getting there: | Located
one hour's drive north of Newcastle upon Tyne just off the A1. Holy Island is
cut off from the mainland at high tide so plan your visit to allow plenty of time.

or local newspaper. Nearest rail station is Alnmouth but requires journey onwards

before travelling. Priory open Monday-Sunday 9.30am-5pm from 24 March-30 September,
