Debbie
from Upton Warren, near Bromsgrove, qualified as a ceramic artist
and went on to study at Worcester College of Technology where she
specialized in fine arts.
It
was at college where her interest in textiles really developed.
For
her exhibition at Bohemia, Debbie has produced a stunning collection
of textile art, available as framed, suspended and freestanding
pieces.

Karen
Tait, owner of the bohemia gallery said "Debbie鈥檚 work is truly
amazing, and it an unexpected bonus for the gallery to have a craftsperson
of this calibre on our doorstep".
Debbie
said "I like to use richly harmonious coloured threads, ribbons,
sequins and feathers in my work.
"Sometimes
I work spontaneously, experimenting with various stitches patterns
and textures until I am satisfied with the result.
"I
particularly enjoy stitching layers of fabric with glitter and beads
trapped between them onto water soluble film, the resulting pieces
are transparent and delicate.
"I
draw inspiration from a variety of sources including the surrounding
landscape and children鈥檚 literature.
"I
am also interested in the work of Austrian artist Hundertwasser,
his paintings are multi organic and shot through with gold and silver.
"The
drawings by illustrator Jane Ray also influences my textiles, I
find her drawings jewel-like, enchanting and truly inspirational.
"I
do hope viewers will enjoy looking at my work as much as I enjoy
making it!"
