My Mother had been evacuated from Portsmouth due to heavy bombing including incendiary fire bombs.
Supposedly, on the night I was born, my Grandfather was standing at the front door watching the devastation when a blast from an explosion blew him from the bottom of the stairs to the top of the stairs!
Miraculously he was unhurt.
