During the war my mother, grandmother and I went to a cinema in Curzon Street to see a newsreel of my father taken in Burma were he was stationed,it contained messages sent to the famillies here in England. The title of the newsreel was called Calling Blighty, my father's name was Bill Perry.

Message 1 - Your story in the Writing Workshop

Dear platform1

Thank you for adding your story to the website.

I was wondering if you would like to develop it - perhaps with a few more details.

Were you surprised to see your father in the film? How did it make you feel. Were you able to get in touch with him? What was it like when he returned from Burma? Was it hard for him to adapt?

You might also want to research more details about the film.

Let me know if I can be of any assitance.

Best wishes,

Helen, WW2 Team

How come he was in the newsreel. Was he a reporter?
