"Sojourn in Silesia", some say the definitive book on Stalag VIIB

I'm the daughter of Arthur Evans, the author of "Sojourn in Silesia", which some say is the definitive book on Stalag VIIIB, the WW2 PoW camp in Lamsdorf. And I'm also the webmaster for Lamsdorf Reunited,(www.lamsdorfreunited.co.uk) the purpose of it is to reunite those who were in Stalag VIIIB, or their families, and to share information about them.

So if you're looking for information either about this camp, or your father or grandfather has passed on without sharing his wartime memories with you, this is the place to come to. You may even see him among the many photographs we have on the site.

There are lots of groups shots of PoWs, as well as photos taken inside the camp at great risk to himself by a very brave airman. And there are also lots of interesting stories, memories and anecdotes from inside the camp.

After you seen all that, and decide that you'd like others who may have known you, or your late father or grandfather, to contact you, then we'd be delighted to put his details up on our site, and there are a number of options:

If you have a headshot of him taken from around that time (or anything that I can crop into a headshot) we can put him and his details on our White Pages.

We can put a message from him, or you, on our We'll Meet Again! section.

If you have any photos that you think may be of interest to others, we can put them on the Photos pages. Photos can be sent by email (in jpg format) or by post, in which case we will scan them in and return them.

You can do any or all of those options, but first do please look at these three sections of www.lamsdorfreunited.co.uk to get an idea of what's required.

We then hold your contact details on our separate, secure database and if anyone recognises you, or your relative, and wants to be in touch with you, we will then pass their contact details on to you. Please be assured, at no time will your contact details be passed on to anyone, for any reason.

So we look forward to hearing from you.

There is an article about my father Harry Kirk and his time on the death march after they left Stalag V111B - there is a good picture of my dad - I just wish he was still alive to put his own contribution to this web site.
