I served as a Corporal in the east Surrey Regiment. the Division was sent to join the British Expeditionary Forces in france in April 1940.

We were sent to join the front line troops in May 1940.

I was captured at St Valery on 12 June 1940 and taken Prisoner of war until May 1945.
