Thetford Library and Thetford Ancient House Museum worked together on the People's War project.
On 11th May between 2 and 4 we held a "People's War: celebrating VE Day" event at Thetford Library. The event was opened by the Mayor of Thetford and Neil Storey, author of 'Norfolk at War' performed his humourous monologues. There were displays, authentic refreshments and music of the period.
More than 150 people attended the event and everyone said what a good time they had. Students from Thetford Grammar School were available to write down people's memories and these have been checked and now 15 stories are on the website.
Everyone went home with a story form so many more have probably been added since then.
