On the 12th and 13th of June Leicester Square was transformed into 1940s London for 'West End at War' a free family weekend event to commemorate the war with an emphasis on entertainment with jitterbug dancing, live swing and jazz music.

During the weekend over fifty people came along to the UK Online Islington/´óÏó´«Ã½ IT bus to tell their stories of World War 2 to CSV GO volunteers, who typed them up for the ´óÏó´«Ã½ People's War website.

There is a real range of stories. We spoke to lots of evacuees, people who remember having fun in the West End, ordinary Londoners who carried on their working lives during the war and also people who coped with tragedies.

Please have a look at their stories below
