My father was Sgt Donald W.O. Paige. He served with the Irish Brigade, part of 78th Division in North Africa, Italy and Austria. As far as I know he was involved in aspects of intelligence -not as a spy(!) but with planning routes, making maps etc. In fact he was Intelligence Sergeant at Irish Brigade Headquarters. Throughout the camapign he had personal transport - a motorcycle. Not long ago I discovered that he had kept a diary from November 1942 to mid 1945, and I in the process of transcribing it. He mentions quite a few people and I will but their names on this site pretty soon. I will also come back with questions.
Don was born in Cambridge in 1912 and died in 1968.Apart from his war service he lived in Cambridge all his life. I am his only child, and during the 60's I was busy with education and marriage and all the young things, so I never managed to talk to him about the war. I don't think either he or my mother wanted to go there.
Postscript
I have had a limited time to contribute to this archive, and so there is only a selection of Don's Diary available here. However, I shall continue transcribing the complete diary and if you wish to contact me about it you may email me on duncan03120ATyahoo.co.uk.
