Lots of fun in Brasil (Spanish/Portuguese)
I already knew Spanish before I studied abroad in Brasil last winter and since the two languages have some similarities, my first two weeks there I spoke "Sportuganish". When describing my previous travel experiences I used the Spanish word gozar to say that I had fun while I was abroad in other countries. People seemed to understand it so I kept on saying gozar for almost everything for the first few weeks. It wasn't until I used the word in class when my Spanish speaking teacher realized what I was trying to say, pulled me aside, and informed me that in Portuguese, gozar is used as the verb 'to have an orgasm'. Not even my host mother bothered to correct me on it ... and I even said it to my 14 year old host brother! So embarrassing ...

Some old people still use this term.

In my country (Brasil) gozar has two meanings: orgasm and joke.
Hey Natalie :) No worries, this word is really used to express fun, but only with "Portuguese from Portugal". If you say this word there, you wouldn't have problems xD Bjs!
lol...I've said many wrong things in English,but I guess that's the point, we are always learning. It is funny to share experiences.Keep up with your Portuguese.
