Stuffed bunny

When in France some years ago, we met a French family, and in the course of conversation I was describing a previous trip to France. I told them that on Easter Day, we had sat in the car and eaten cold chicken followed by un lapin au chocolat. We could not understand why our new friends fell about laughing, until they composed themselves enough to express surprise that we had enjoyed rabbit stuffed with chocolate. What we had actually finished our meal with was a chocolate bunny.

Editor's note: What they really ate was un lapin en chocolat.

My sister once was taken out for lunch my a prospective employer. It was in Lille, in France, but they chose to go to an English-style pub. She looked at the menu which was in English and saw Welsh Rarebit. She assumed there was an spelling mistake and being very French she loves to eat rabbit, so she ordered the Welsh dish, which she incidently thought was very well priced! Only to be very disappointed to be served cheese on toast! And she didn't get the job...

Whilst in Biarritz, I attempted to impress my new boyfriend with my knowledge of French. When the waiter came I wanted to ask him for a hot chocolate and said un chocolat chein, s'il vous plaît rather than un chocolat chaud, s'il vous plaît. Brilliant. I asked him for a chocolate dog, to make matters worse I then repeated it when he looked perplexed.

It's a good job the rabbit wasn't served hot.
