Coronation puppy

When on a school trip to Dresden the lady I was staying with asked me if I had any dietary requirements. I told her that I didn't eat much meat, in fact I only ate ±áü³ó²Ô³¦³ó±ð²Ô, chicken. The lady gave me an alarmed look. She understood I only ate ±áü²Ô»å³¦³ó±ð²Ô, puppy. Obviously my pronunciation wasn't so good.

Reminds me when I was a student at uni. A fellow student told us about when he was getting to know his German girlfriend. She asked him what the British eat for Christmas dinner. He'd replied, Wir essen Pudel (= poodle!). He'd meant to say Pute, turkey.

Whilst on a German exchange trip a few years ago I made the mistake over dinner of announcing to the group assembled to bid me farewell: Meine Lieblingsessen ist ±áü²Ô»å³¦³ó±ð²Ô meaning, instead of my intended phrase - 'My favourite food is chicken' that my favourite food was instead puppy!

You could also say ±áä³ó²Ô³¦³ó±ð²Ô, chicken, to avoid any phonetic similarities with ±áü²Ô»å³¦³ó±ð²Ô, puppy!
